Volume in Notification
Volume in Notification is intended for use on tablets running Android OS 3.X and up.
This app puts a media volume and mute control in the Notifications window that can be accessed from the status bar on your tablet. It lets you adjust the volume without using the hardware volume button and without exiting the app that you're currently running. For example, you can adjust the volume of a video directly from the Notifications window while continuing to watch the video.
We developed this app because we often find it hard to use the hardware volume button on a tablet, depending on its orientation and how we have it set up in the stand. We hope you find it useful too!
Note: This app will only control media volume. In general, media volume includes music, video, and game sounds.
To use: Tap on the app icon and select Activate. This will put the volume control into the Notifications window. On the status bar, tap on the time to access the volume control.
To close: Tap on the app icon and select Deactivate.
Important
- This app does NOT have any ads. If you are seeing ads in your Notifications window, then they are being put there by a different app.
- If the volume control does not display in the Notifications window, make sure that notifications are turned on for your device under Settings > Apps > Volume in Notification > Show notifications (check the box). Note: This setting is available for Android OS 4.1 and up only.
- Method #1: If you tap on the "time" in the status bar to access the volume control, then it will remain visible until you dismiss it. We recommend that you use this method.
- Method #2: If you tap on the "volume icon" in the status bar to access the volume control, then it might not remain visible after each button press, depending on your device and Android OS version.
- Tapping the Mute button will allow you to mute and unmute the volume.
- It's not possible to put a sliding volume bar in the Notifications window.

- I recently rooted my first generation Amazon Kindle Fire and installed Jelly Bean (Hashcode's ROM). While it was a huge upgrade from what was basically a device for consuming Amazon content to a full-fledged Android tablet, there was one feature lacking. The Kindle Fire lacks the hardware volume buttons found on most Android devices. Amazon's software build included a convenient software volume conrol, but with "real" Android it was quite a chore to have to go into settings/sound/volumes (at least three taps) every time I needed to adjust the volume. With this Volume In Notification app, I now have a simple, easy-access volume control without having to leave the app I'm in nor go into settings. THANKS!
- Perfect! After buying an Asus Transformer Pad, I searched for hours to find a simple volume control that did not come with adds, or was priced at more than it should be (nothing) and here it is! Seriously, the number 1, 2, and 3 similar apps come with ads, and have been downloaded over 5 million times each, a fact that is sad, I almost threw away my new tablet in disgust of the whole crap app system. - Before this app, to mute the volume of my Lenovo Ideatab required quitting the program and navigating into Settings, then to add the sound, the same process again. With this app, I can apply mute so easily right from the tray, as well as adjusting the volume easier than with the button control. App is absolutely genius, thank you so much. I like this much better than a slider as I can remember what number volume to use for every app as called for.
- This app is exactly what you need if, for some reason, your device manufacturer saw fit not to provide physical volume buttons. My ONLY complaint is that I have to pull up the quick settings/notifications to use it in ICS (it would be cool to be able to use it directly from the status bar) but I suppose it's like that for form factor. Overall, a great app for my tablet, if only there was a place to donate to the dev ;)
- I have a sliding brightness control on my Asus Transformer with ICS and wanted one for volume too. Although this is buttons and not a slider, it still is great and is what I wanted. I also like the ability for me to decide whether it auto starts at bootup or not. Nice job.
