Permissions Notes
- READ_CONTACTS is required to be able to include contact thumbnails in the created app, and then only if specified by the user
- WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE is required to put the new app on external storage (note: on some devices, 'external storage' is non-removable, which is also fine)
- WAKE_LOCK is required to stop the device sleeping while the app is being created
- created apps do not necessarily have these permissions, only the ones needed for the functions they use

- Ok, so I figured out how to get exporting as an app to work with JB 4.1!!!! The issue actually has to do with Tasker and not the App Factory plugin. Even with updated Play App Store, if you purchased tasker, it get installed into /mnt/asec. The only way to work around this is to backup Tasker with Titanium Backup, uninstall Tasker and then reinstall Tasker from the TB backup. This puts Tasker in the proper directory and then the export as app in App Factory works perfectly. Unfortunately, even with the current Tasker update, it gets put back into /mnt/asec, so then you have to do the work around again. I am not sure if this is something the Dev can fix, but it should be looked into.
- Hey morons read the instructions! You need the Beta version of Tasker!! It only says that like 7 times at the top. So Google "Tasker Beta" & d/l it! You likely have V.1.2.1 and you'll need V. 1.2.2b You know why there is a 'b' after that last 2? Cause that's the bloody Beta you illiterates! So go download the beta from the developer's website! After that go into Tasker, then into your tasks tab, long press one - click export and choose App! Voila you've made your first app.
- There needs to be a community for sharing these apps. Yes, people can distribute their exported app via play, but that is more than what some might want to do. Surely someone is in the process of creating a site for a community of registered users to export and share apps. This could quickly turn this into the most important app out there.
- The trouble with programmers is that they can't explain their ideas/apps simply to non programming types... *sigh* so basically this "add on" allows us to compile an app using tasker? Am I right? Why doesn't it just say that?? Great so as soon as I have 8 hours spare to work out how tasker works I'll be sure to try and use this.....
- Create your app right from your android device, this is now possible. A few clicks and you can generate your apk. No complex programming. That's amazing....... Highly recommended.
- Works great and dead simple! Only improvement I would seek is that referenced mp3 files (such as in "Music Play" steps) could be embedded in the apk as images are.
