Take control over your GPU!

Chainfire3D is an intermediary OpenGL driver. What does that mean? It means that Chainfire3D sits between your apps and the graphics drivers, and can intercept and/or change commands between the two. It has some built-in functions, and can be further extended with plugins to provide extra functionality.

!! For Froyo and Gingerbread ONLY. NOT COMPATIBLE with Honeycomb/Ice Cream Sandwich/Jelly Bean !!

!! Chainfire3D is for 1ghz+ devices only !!

!! ROOT is required for this program, as well as a writable /system partition. S-OFF is also required on HTC devices !!

Features include reducing texture size and quality to reduce memory use and potentially increase game performance, as well as increasing memory use potentially increase performance.

If you also install the (experimental) EGL driver, AND your GPU supports it, AND you have the Pro version, you can enable 4xMSAA or 16xMSAA on a per-app bases. This can drastically improve image quality!

Many users are running Chainfire3D on devices not listed here - it's likely to work on all modern devices. So far nobody has reported a failed install, so that's good. Doesn't mean problems can't happen.

!! There is some risk involved installing the driver. Your device may not boot. If you have CWM, it would be prudent to create a backup before installing !!

  • MY SCREEN IS A LOT SHARPER AND CRYSTAL CLEAR. This app works great with my Verizon Samsung Galaxy SIII (S3). I even installed the experimental drivers when asked before installing CF. Everything works FLAWLESS and I am able to play games that I was not able to before. I also purchased the Pro versions of this app and the Pro version of CF Bench. There are absolutely NO problems at all and absolutely everything works out of the box (of course with a ROOTED DEVICE). I now own all your products. -h3llsdr0id
  • Bought the pro version now. Games that had textures missing now run superb. And A message to the others complaining. Chainfire doesn't make the plugins. These can be found easily on the web. Learn to Google people. And lastly. It doesn't trick you into purchasing. The free version works well. But if you want the enhanced GL driver, and the ability to create configurations on an app by app basis, then buy it. Well worth the purchase price. It's a shame it doesn't work on Jelly Bean. But things move on.
  • This little app can help you alot with gaming performance, the graphics may go a little crapper but who cares? Your game will go alot smoother with mabe only a little lag. Works perfectly on Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 running Cyanogenmod 7 (stable build). I would highly recommend this app. P.s Haven't tried that optional EGL driver. Only really cool thing you can get with pro is that you can set your graphic options for individual apps.

  • Great app, love all the features this adds to the everyday android phone but it really needs to be updated to support cm10/jellybean roms as I'm unable to play certain older games on my new tablet
  • Speeds up loading all my 3D games, get rid of most of the stuttering at the start of levels, and all this for FREE??? Needless to say after trying this I bought the PRO version!
  • I play galaxy of fire2, dungeon defenders on my HTC desire using CM7 rom, now to get this to work with my adosbox install of win 95 and boo ya old school 3d!!
  • This enabled my Galaxy S III to play THD games, and have amazing graphics. If it only had nvidia tegra 3 plugin, then it would be perfect.
  • I use this app to play shadowgun on my HP TOUCHPAD and HD2! You can play all tegra games without a tegra chip, grab the nvidia plugin.
