Unlike other call filters, Root Call Blocker silently blocks calls at a system level. You need not even know its working and can choose to be notified only if specific numbers are blocked.

This app does not control your voicemail service. If your blocked calls are being sent to voice mail, try another blocking method or use Google Voice. You can simulate a disconnected message by forwarding busy calls to a number that doesn't exist.

Don't believe the hype about Extreme Call Blocker or Mr Number or DroidWall those apps are not the only ones that work on Jelly Bean - RCB functions on any Android version 2.1 and up, is much faster and 100% silent.

OUTGOING CALL permissions are needed for hidden mode, using the dialer to enter a password.

ACCOUNTS are needed for Google Groups.

SEND SMS needed for auto replies and SMS routing.

INTERNET ACCESS is for licensing, Flurry and the "Write to us" feedback tool.

LOG DATA is only sent with your permission via the "Write to us" menu item in Settings. You do not have to send anything if you don't want to.

  • Fahrbot CS got a teensy bit snarky with me when I had a simple question regarding multiple schedules, telling me 'It's pretty self-explanatory, I would have thought'. Trust me, I understand; I work on computers--and have to deal with their 'owners', constantly. However, when I pay $7 for an Android app, I expect less 'snark' and more 'substance' (in the form of help, is what I'm saying). I love the app, even though there have been 'concerns' that it wasn't working, complete loss of my black list (I started backing it up a lot just in case), and this one message saying "SIM Card Added: You must restart your device to access the mobile network". This message is likely exactly what Fahrbot is indicating on this very info page, but without enough detail to keep you from COMPLETELY IGNORING THIS MESSAGE, which does not disappear by pressing the 'back' or even 'home' buttons, but finally goes away when you press one of your 'tray icons' located at bottom of your touchscreen. This likely applies to many CM9 mod users, but I know it does mine, which is the cheap little ATT HTC Aria (which changes to 'HTC Liberty' upon root/mod to CM9). This was quite maddening until I got around it.
  • An Indian pharmacy recently started spoofing my number with their robodialer. Because of this, I'm getting up to 60 calls an hour from people "returning my call". This app lets me keep my number (which I've had for 9+ years) and keep my sanity. The best thing about this app is that it blocks the calls without disturbing your streaming radio, calls, games, etc... It basically happens in the background without you ever knowing or disturbing you. Verizon charges $5 a month to block up to 20 numbers (blacklist). With this app, I pay once, and can only allow calls from numbers stored in my contacts (whitelist). A blocking app that works in the background and has whitelist functionality? My only regret is that I only have 5 stars to give. Some of these poor reviews sound like they are folks who are not rooted. YOU MUST BE ROOTED TO USE THIS PROGRAM PROPERLY.
  • There is none better. I ended up wasting a couple bucks on call control trying to save money... it did work but not all the time and I still had to deal with the call screen showing up. Root call blocker works and I don't even realize it's on unless I open the app and see unknown and private numbers being sent to voicemail. Use youmail to complement as youmail allows you to set up a different greeting for individual numbers or groups and gives you the option to not allow the caller to leave a voicemail.
  • This is why I choose the Android platform. Complete control of call handling. I never hear blocked calls come in nor am I ever notified (by the phone app). I would, however, like to see a busy signal option in a future release. regardless, this app goes above and beyond and does exactly what I expect it to do. worth the small investment. Also, don't forget... this fine app requires a rooted device. It cannot work otherwise. RCB goes highly recommended.
  • I have been looking for a program that stops my phone from ringing when it is indicated "unknown" caller. This program does exactly that. I was getting 10 calls a day from salesmen blocking their numbers. First day using RCB it showed six unknown calls blocked, that did NOT ring or get answered. Best thing is I now get ZERO junk calls! That telemarketer stopped calling because he thinks my line is disconnected. LOL, good riddance assholes.
  • I've tried numerous apps to block calls but this one takes the cake! i love the fast reject option to block calls. phone doesn't even budge and blocked callers are hung up on without sending it straight to voicemail. profile setting is excellent if you need to set up a special setting for call blocking if lets say for instance you only want people from your white list to call you. great job guys.   • Before you rate this app badly, please bear in mind that your phone requires ROOT in order for this app to work perfectly. I have used all the popular call blocker apps out there but seriously none of it is as good as this. This app is expensive but worth every cent. Credit must be given to the developer. ヽ(*⌒∇⌒*)ﾉ
  • Does what it says. Best app of it's kind. I think this kind of functionality should be implemented in all smartphones. Another thing worth commenting is that the help file is very helpful.
  • App eliminates all of the unwanted calls I've been getting recently. East to setup and has the ability to backup your blacklist. I recommend.
  • I've tried and purchased a few call block apps. This is easily the best of them all! Well worth the money!
