Ideal for articles and blogs. Improved to extract just the text related to content.

Download and save your PDF files and plain text file Attachments from the gmail app and other apps. The downloaded file is placed in the Download folder.

Replace Text tool: Replace words or phrases to avoid repetitive, unnecessary phrases. Use it to replace foreign words with more phonetic alternatives. Use it to omit symbols. It can also be used to replace names or words with funny substitutes.

Support for Bluetooth media buttons (single click skips sentences, double click skips pages ).

Gestures: Use gestures to quickly flip pages, advance sentences, and to play and pause the reader. A menu help option informs of the available gesture instructions.

Support for SVOX, IVONA text-to-Speech and other High Fidelity text-to-speech synthesizers.

Integration with Google Drive and Box.com*** makes it seamless to hear files and Google docs stored in GDrive. Also compatible with Drop Box using their app so you can open files from other cloud drives as well.

Accessibility: Pdf-to-Speech has been tested to work with talk-back for eyes-free use. The use of hardware buttons such as a Bluetooth headset is recommended to pause the reader before browsing the app using talk-back.

Theme selection**: Switch between a bright and dark themes depending on the time of the day.

Play over media: Enable this feature to play Pdf-to-speech along a music player to have background music while you listen to a document. Switch the audio stream to adjust the volume of Pdf-to-Speech and the music app separately.

  • I had a problem with this app at first, getting it to work – I needed it to switch over to Spanish, and it wouldn't. I wrote a 3-star review. Within hours, I got an e-mail from them out of the blue, Jeremy was all over the problem trying to help me. I was really impressed. Anyway, we got it working great, and I've been using it today alongside three other readers (ezPdf, RepliGo, and Mantano). Pdf-to-speech is completely different from the others, and works much better for what I wanted. It extracts clean sentences, one by one, displaying them clearly in a simple window as it speaks. You can easily change the font size, making it super clear for following along. The other competing applications, while all of them worked okay, are not really focused on TTS, it's just more of an afterthought. Anyway, I'm changing my review to 5-stars, based on my experience with the company, and using the application for a full day.
  • As a blind Android user, I welcome any app that can make documents accessible, and pdf's are notoriously difficult to access by screenreaders, however this seems to be a pretty good solution. I would welcome more accessisble control buttons like pause, read by sentance etc, it just seems to read non-stop once loaded but this could be me not being familar with the interface, I have to use Android Talkback to access everything on ICS and I'd urge developerers to test theri software with this feature enabled, the important thing is that most if not all of the buttons are properly labelled, but agan it'd be nice to have some dedicated controls, otherwise great work!
  • I'm running this app on a Samsung Galaxy Tab using PDFs in three different languages (German, English, French). To really take advantage of what the app has to offer you have to fine-tune the language input and output defaults accordingt o your needs. There are some really useful and unique options in this app. For example you can adjust reading speed which comes in handy when listening to texts in foreign languages. In addition, the text being read can be displayed by using the PDF reader of your choice.
  • I have never felt compelled to write a review but felt I must. This app has performed fantastically tied in with Ivona. I've been through dozens of pages and it hasn't let me down. Being able to listen to documents when in the car etc has been a revelation.
  • App does ALL what it says, is simple, seamless, displays sentence it is reading, and has all options you will ever need. IVONA voices are better quality but unstable with this app (IVONA is in beta testing). SVOX has zero problems. Its a BUY!
  • I love this app lesson to some school books i have in pdf. And using IVONA voice engine. I can recommend this app to anyone. My not work great on phones with less than 1ghz processor.
  • Three dollars is a steal for the utility this app delivers. Works great on my Droid RAZR. Time previously wasted in traffic is now leveraged to complete reading assignments
