Gounders (கவுண்டர்) also known as Kongu Vellalars (கொங்கு வேளாளர்) originally of Chola country who migrated in ancient times and formed the area known as Kongu Nadu. They were known as a noble, feudal and land owning caste of Tamil Nadu from the Sangam age.
