• The "phone" mode works great on my Google Asus Nexus 7 tablet. It plays all videos using the best video player app (by far) DicePlayer. Very simple to use both as server (PC) side and client phone-tablet side. I have a 2TB USB 3.0 hard drive with tons of video files always connected to my Lenovo notebook. Even though my wi-fi network for both PC and tablet is only 802.11g (not n), videos play flawlessly (MP4 MPG MKV WMV AVI FLV MOV). I previously tried to set up a local nginx HTTP server and Fillazilla FTP server to access my remote files. Not only are these more complicated to set up but I never got them to work on my network with the N7 tablet. The only significant failing of GMOTE is audio files. Unlike video files, where GMOTE passes off the actual video player function to your favorites video app like DicePlayer, BSPlayer, or MXPlayer, GMOTE tries to handle the audio files itself. This works okay for MP3 and FLAC files but totally fails for WMA files. I think it would be better if GMOTE also passed off the audio file playing function to an external audio app such as doubleTwist, etc., more specialized for audio. Minor: directory structure could also use improvement.
• This app has pretty much everything I was looking for, though I use a separate app for a gamepad (something that would be cool to see integrated into this one) I really think it needs gesture support for the touchpad mode e.g. pinch to zoom etc. but from my experience I can't rate this any less than 5*'s it's just too good and I know it'll only get better I've already recommended it to all my friends and family
• I use my neighbors wifi which is like 50mbps, yet this app works perfectly. I can lay on my couch and use my computer. The "view on phone" feature for movies still needs some work but it's still a beta. Never been so pleased with a free app. Definitely going to buy the app.
• It always works...on all Windows systems including 8...many others imitate it but it's been there since day one. Easily play videos and control the PC if you have added the right paths. Too tired to get up from bed to type something? Well this is handy.
• This is my preferred way to stream music on my phone. I really dislike "cloud" services, as they are unreliable and try to lock you into their particular ecosystem. With Gmote, I can stream directly from my PC anywhere I have mobile service or Wi-Fi.
• The usefulness of this application cannot be put into words. I love the touchpad feature for my computer when I'm watching netflix or using my laptop hooked up to the tv. The server crashes from time to time, but it's still very worth it.
• I've had this app for years and still use it almost daily. How about the option to choose the default screen? I only use gmote for the touchpad, so I would like the ability to have it open on touchpad.
• A simple app that does exactly what it should! And the server works on ppc, which is a huge plus. One suggestion: add a way to switch between remote & touchpad without needing to access the menu.
• This app works great with my 17 mac book pro I love how my wife can be on facebook and I can just pop up a movie on her at will O:-) it helps to get her off the computer
• I never thought that I would use my phone as a remote for my PC. It's a very easy to use app, oh and by the way it's one of those lazy-man apps, which I love.
